Markair Helps Recover Energy For Beer Plant!
High Pressure Blower For Saturated Air Exhaust In Energy Recovery.
Markair was asked to help make improvements to an existing energy recovery unit that takes hot process air off the brewkettle and uses that heat to create hot water. The original system created a great deal of moisture on the roof top leaving the roof slippery and unsafe. It also led to corrsosion of adjacent structures. The new design included at Twin City Model RBO Industrial Blower and Munters Mist Elimintator. The new design is working perfectly. It is the driest the roof has been in years. The new design also reduced the noise levels on the roof.
Markair Improves Air Quality For Manufacturer Of Electrical Components
Markair designed and furnished two air pollution control systems for Zinc Thermal Spray and Silica Grinding processes for a Florida based electrical components manufacturer. The projected consisted of carefully designed air to cloth ratios for superior performance as well incorporating the latest NFPA requirements for explosive dusts. Please contact Markair with your application and we would be happy to help!
Markair Improves Venturi Trim System For Cellulose Manufacturer
Markair was asked to help improve an existing venturi style trim system. Due the increase trim width and machine speed, duct improvements and fan performance changes were required. System is up and running as designed. Please contact Markair with your application and we would be happy to help!

Aerovent Fans: A Sure Bet on the Trump Casino Vessel
Atlantic Marine, the shipbuilder, wouldn’t gamble on just any fan product. Atlantic Marine worked with Markair, Inc. to purchase Aerovent fans, thereby eliminating delays in approval, and maintaining their design integrity in providing their customers with a quality product and on-time delivery.
In all, forty-two Aerovent Type “W” Direct Driven Vane axial
Fans were supplied for the Trump Casino vessel project.
Lay Pitman & Associates, the naval architect, uses our computer fan selection program along with the expertise of Markair engineers to specify the Aerovent equipment, to select the quietest sound levels, provide stable fan curves, and determine adjustable pitch fan blade angle settings.
For this project, fan sizes range from 18″ to 33″ diameter, powered by both single speed and two speed motors designed to meet the weatherproof requirements for IEEE 45 and USCG 259 marine-duty, below-deck service.
Aerovent’s Type “W” vane axial fan was chosen for this project based on its proven performance and reliability on several other passenger vessel projects where Aerovent marine-duty vane axial fans have been installed.
The Type “W” vane axial design provides both the engineer and ship owner a simple, yet very versatile fan for shipboard uses.
What makes the Type “W” vane axial the right fan for the job? We think there are five advantages:
Wide Performance Range: Performance requirements for the Trump Casino project varied from 1800 CFM to 20,000 CFM with up to 2″ of static pressure. Direct drive Type “W” vane axials are available from 18″ to 84″ diameter, 1200 CFM to over 200,000 CFM and up to 4″ of static pressure.
Compact Design: Fan housing lengths are usually equal to or less than the fan diameter keeping installation space to the bare minimum. The available space for mechanical equipment is always a major design consideration especially on luxury passenger vessels.
Quiet Operation: Due to the fan’s close proximity to sleeping quarters, restaurants and public areas, the allowable noise levels from the fan are very stringent. The Type “W” vane axial is known for its smooth, stable performance and quiet operation.
Manually Adjustable Fan Blades: Adjustable aluminum fan blades make it possible to alter the airflow during final balancing of the supply/ exhaust system.
Rugged Steel Housing Construction: Heavy gauge flanged housings are built for bulkhead mounting. For ease of installation, the motor leads are extended to the exterior of the fan casing for making all electrical connections.
The complete order was shipped three days ahead of schedule. In a letter from Atlantic Marine’s Mr. George Haynes to Markair, he states, “We certainly appreciate vendors who can help us meet our production schedules and furnish quality products.”

Markair & Aerovent provides fans for NASA Space Shuttle Program
2010 is the final year for NASA's aging space shuttle fleet. As each orbiter returns to earth from its final voyage, it is greeted by products designed and sold by Markair, Inc. and manufactured by TCF Aerovent.
Once the orbiter lands at the end of a mission, the Shuttle Landing Fleet of vehicles keep systems on the orbiter operating while it progresses through checkout stages. One of the fleet support systems is a portable air conditioning unit. TCF Aerovent supplied twenty (20) panel fans for each of three (3) of these portable air conditioning units.
The existing cooling air supply units were not performing to specifications and required new fans and coils. The fans and coils had to bolt to an existing shroud and provide substantially higher performance.
The seacoast environment required special materials and coatings for corrosion protection. Quality, performance, and delivery were very critical requirements of the specifications.
Each of the three units required sixteen (16) 30" DDP condenser fans and four (4) 16" DDP pre-cooling fans for a total of sixty (60) fans. The motors were severe wash down duty with stainless steel housings, shafts, and hardware. The fans were all welded aluminum construction fabricated to fit the existing shrouds. The coating was a white Ameron paint that required sand blasting, an Amerlock 400 primer and an Ameron PSX700 topcoat.
In addition to the extensive documentation and testing requirements, NASA STD-5008 required a Certified National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE) Inspection of all of the fans. Aerovent hired a NACE certified company out of Pompano Beach, Florida to perform the inspections and to provide the certified reports. Aerovent provided a full-time QC person to work with the NACE inspector. Together, they reviewed the specifications and inspected everything from surface preparation to measuring dry film thicknesses (DFT) on each fan. The painting and inspection process took a total of six days. The detailed report states "all work was performed in strict accordance with specifications and in a professional manner."
For the past five years, the Aerovent units have been operating during landing and recovery of the space shuttle fleet. NASA remains very satisfied with the quality of Aerovent's products and the units are performing to specifications.
